CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Verity Willis
CANON: Marvel 616
AGE: mid 20s
CANON POINT: Loki: Agent of Asgard #11 (just before reuniting with Loki in his living room)
BACKGROUND: character information
INCENTIVE/FIT: Since the moment she'd been born, Verity has had the ability to see through any lie. No matter how small, if the person is aware that what they're saying is false, Verity will know like a human lie detector. While the trick may be rather useful, it can actually be extremely infuriating when there's no off button, making it difficult for her to enjoy all aspects of life. It becomes impossible to read any sort of fiction, to sit down and watch a fantasy film, or even keep around friends without the buzzer in her head constantly going off, pointing out every lie lie lie.
What Verity seeks is a way to have better control over her lie detection, meaning to be able to use it at will instead of having it set endlessly to on. Because her ability has never truly allowed her to have lasting strong relationships, she's more accustomed to casual intimacy, never getting too attached due to the lies always getting the best of her, therefore using that to be able to finally have a bit of literal peace of mind would be entirely worth it.
SAMPLES:[The routine of trying to find a decent relationship has never been quite easy. Speed dating became an addiction quite in the way that gambling becomes an irresistible hobby to most, utterly pointless after every attempt but still sparking that small glimmer of hope that luck could strike at any moment. But inevitably, it only ever got worse, with date after date prompting out lies easily in the span of ten minutes. Names, careers, martial statuses — there was hardly any honesty in the potentials and she knows they're all cons and liars looking to get a quick lay from whoever happens to be the most attractive girl in the room.
She wonders if life in Eudio would be about the same habits, just another locale for the most old routine that she's seen time and time again for the primary dose of her life. Consensual physical intimacy with an offer of an incentive, they tell her and it all sounds completely skeptical. Except it's true, because she can tell. If she agrees to let herself get close to people, consensual but casual, she can ask for something in return.]
Anything? [She wants to clarify, because if it's something more material like money, she wouldn't really be interested. But, as she's learned that more things like magic and higher powers really do somehow have a place in this world, she finds it's possible to find her own advantage in this.]
I want to shut it off. Reading lies. Not — not entirely. [Because as much as it can be a horror, it was still a part of her. Losing that would make her lose all sense of her identity. Bearing that sort of change after how much it's become an entity of herself being would be too much.] I just want to be able to, you know, talk to another person without instantly finding some reason to despise them. I don't mind catching the fibs, but it wouldn't hurt to actually play "two truths, one lie" without cheating every once in a while.
[She sighs, dipping her head down as she runs her hands through her hair. It might be ridiculous to even be considering this, but if they're not lying, maybe she can finally find a way to live properly, the way she's always yearned to. Finally, she looks back up, much more stern than she was prior.] I'll do it. If you can really give me a figurative remote for this thing — making it go on pause every now and then, I don't mind doing it. I'll go to Eudio.

ANYTHING ELSE?
Verity's power is an innate ability to catch people's lies, no matter how small they may be. If the person says or writes something with the self-knowledge that it is a lie, she will be aware as such. However, her abilities aren't entirely foolproof either as even if she knows a statement is a lie, it doesn't allow her to know what the actual truth is. For example, if someone gives her a false name, she will know the name is fake, but she won't know what the true name actually is.
Other effects of this ability is being able to see through illusions. If someone sets up an illusion to make themselves appear differently than they are, she will not be able to see that false presentation, instead seeing the person as they really are (unless informed, she might not even be aware that there's an illusion being set in the first place).
