[ He definitely feels that smile, running his fingers up into her hair to stroke out long strands over and over, detangling them as Verity dozes. ]

She saw how the Angels were whaling on Thor and thought, "Fucketh this", slipping off for an audience with Queen where she led her to believe she would betray Asgard. The Queen said many true things, that the heroine was an outsider above all, and appointed her as the Mistress of Strategies in bringing about Asgard's downfall. So the heroine pretended to forsake her beloved brother, who was actually sort of an idiot and believed the whole affair was real, which the heroine was incidentally counting on. She was given the Third Angelic Fleet to conquer Asgard, which she fooled into crashing headlong into Asgard's defenses because they were more the Thicko Squadron than anything.

It was as the heroine said when they insisted they had taken her in as family; "I already have one of those."

Then she hop-skipped through dead time to find Odin, and things panned out from there.
