( lie detecting permissions )

❝ My name is Verity Willis. Nobody's ever lied to me. Because nobody can. Ever since I was a kid, I've always been able to see through any lie I'm told, no matter how small or well-intentioned ... I was the only kid who never believed in Santa Claus. I was always the first to know. I can't even watch a movie. Any kind of fiction just ... frustrates me. People talk about suspension of disbelief — well, that's not something I can do. So I sit around reading about pure mathematics, programming, physics, things I know are always true ... and I try to pretend that's enough ... to lie to myself ... and I can't. I can't. ❞

reading lies / verity's power is an innate ability to catch people's lies, no matter how small they may be. if the person says or writes something with the self-knowledge that it is a lie, she will be aware as such. however, her abilities aren't entirely foolproof either as even if she knows a statement is a lie, it doesn't allow her to know what the actual truth is. for example, if someone gives her a false name, she will know the name is fake, but she won't know what the true name actually is.

seeing through illusions / other effects of this ability is being able to see through illusions. if someone sets up an illusion to make themselves appear differently than they are, she will not be able to see that false presentation, instead seeing the person as they really are (unless informed, she might not even be aware that there's an illusion being set in the first place).

shapeshifting is not an illusion / unlike illusions, verity cannot see through shapeshifting since that is still part of who that person is. if they're manipulating their own skin to look different, it's shapeshifting and cannot by caught by verity's detection. if the change of appearance is caused by some sort of magical "veil" instead, she will be able to see through it.

character permissions / verity's abilities cannot be helped, and if she meets a person who has a tendency to lie, it's natural for her to catch it. however, if you'd prefer it, you can opt out of having verity interact with your character in the case that you'd rather avoid those lies being caught at all. if you're fine with verity catching your fibs, please fill out the permissions form to get all the details straightened out in case of any lie-catching scenarios.

backtagging / i can literally backtag forever.
threadhopping / that's totally fine by me.
fourthwalling / not so much. but it should hardly be an issue.
triggers / the biggest thing are lies lies lies, which she can naturally detect. look to lie detecting details for more permissions. otherwise, most things should be fine.

hugging / she won't just go about hugging strangers, but if she gets along well with someone, she wouldn't necessarily mind. especially with eudio, she'll be a little more open to accepting it.
kissing / closeness is key. she'd prefer to have at least some sort initial flirting prior at least. cheek kisses always acceptable from friends. lips tend to be more reserved until she likes you well enough.
sex / if she likes you and it leads up to it, then yes. kinks are here.
flirting / as long as you're not a jerk who's vomiting out lies, she might actually flirt back. don't use awful pick up lines though, please.
fighting / she's not a physical fighter so it's not preferred unless discussed.
injuring / would prefer to discuss first.
killing / nah.
telepathy & mind reading / would prefer to discuss first. but she can track lies, so it's fair enough for it to be done back.
